Dated Bungalow Exterior into a MidCentury Baja-Style Gem
This sweet little 1956 bungalow was T I R E D and couldn’t breathe. A filthy layer of spider webs was sandwiched between the original wood siding and 1970’s aluminum. After exhausting all options to restore either material, Julia got down to business sketching out a few of her exterior design ideas which she then passed along to her architectural rendering pal, Rick Barcelow. Barcelow rendered Julia’s concepts into his 3D software which helped significantly in determining design direction. Once the exterior specifications were finalized, Julia met with a handful of builders and landed on a Boulder area builder as GC. This talented crew installed new Hardie Siding with perfect seams, the decorative vertical cedar slat façade, the redwood entry landing over the well-worn concrete, and finally the 1/2 round aluminum gutters.
Julia sourced a local, female-owned welding company for the steel pergola, a Longmont company for the sheet metal house number (designed by Julia) and a national source for the complementary mid-century mailbox, doorbell and door handle.
